TIPS/ Predicting
Using available graphic, textual, and experiential information
to anticipate and accumulate actual textual information
Steps to Predicting:
1.  Preview or skim over the text for features or clues.
2.  Predict by combining: text features + background knowledge.
3.  Monitor your prediction as you read. Pay attention to details that will help you Enhance (add new information to) or Adjust (abandon or change) the prediction.
4.  Confirm the prediction. Write an enhanced or adjusted statement that serves as a summary of the text.
